Randoms

Said today: "No m'am, I don't answer to you.  I'm the teacher and you're the student.  Sorry!"

Grey has some girls that are in l-o-v-e with him. I'm on it - don't you worry.  Somebody's gonna get beat. :) Jokes jokes.  (I guess...)

Zoolander is definitely in my top 10 movies of all time.

Cheddar Jack Cheez its are in my top 10 snacks of all time.

Grey's microwave at school takes 15+ minutes to heat up something that's been in the fridge.

I've worn my hair down every day so far.  Go me.

Grey's fish commited suicide today. Like jumped outta the fish tank and died on my laptop.

Apparently our cats are not into suicidal fish - he was completely whole when we found him.

I was one of a couple of teachers selected by the students to attend a Teacher Cadet play this Wednesday. :)

Whoop!  Monday is over!

Guess what?!

This weekend was quite wonderful after a very stressful and emotionally draining week.
I:
*Smelled the fall air :)
*Got really excited about football starting NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!
*Watched lots of Friends
*Got to hang out with a pretty special lady :)
*Did my circuit class on Saturday
*Did laundry
*Vacuumed

*Spent time with the big JC
*made my own crusty Italian bread
*Made a spaghetti casserole
* Went to a craft club starting up in Spartanburg

Oh yeah.....
*MADE SOME FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an answered prayer!  Have you ever met someone and instantly felt like you've known them for years and they're your best friend ever?  It's only happened twice that I know of for me. Well, it happened Friday.  I met this precious girl (my age) and we instantly hit it off.  So much, that I saw her again today, we talked for an hour, went out to lunch, and made plans to hang out this week.  Grey met some dude friends too - truly truly an answered prayer! :)  Thanks God!

What's on the agenda coming up?
*Clemson FOOTBALL!!!!!
*Grey is taking his concealed weapon's class
*We'll be starting to help with the youth at our church
*Madison is coming to visit!
*I'll be trying out cool fall recipes like caramel apple cider in the crockpot
*Labor Day weekend (which includes a day off from work)
*Maybe more apple picking?

Ugh.

I know I've been negative about going back to school. I know that I've been miserable and only thought about the bad situations that I've had in the past.  I know all of this and for that, if you've been around me, I'd like to apologize.

I think part of my negativity is really centered on how broken I am for these kids. I cried on the way home from school yesterday just thinking about a student that I've been religiously praying for over the past two years.  It's so hard time after time again to see such potential go down the drain.  And the thing that down right stinks is that they just don't care.

Why can't you wait to have sex until you're married or at least mature enough?

Why is your first instinct to cuss someone out?

How do you think you're going to care for that child when you're 15?

You went to jail for beating up a relative?

You've stolen something before?

You've already had an abortion?

You don't believe in God anymore?

All of this in just the first three days. My heart is broken folks. Broken.
It's interesting - I was just praying that the Lord would break my heart for what breaks his.
He sure did.

On the 2nd day...

I.....

1. Called one momma
2. Assigned a lunch detention
3. Threatened to call another momma during class to let her chew out her kid
4. Wrote a referral that warranted 3 days of out of school

Oh 2nd day. What will tomorrow bring?

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Oh the first day

Setting the scene: I'm taking my algebra 2 kiddos to go get their textbook in the library.....

5 kids approach me: Mrs. Lancaster, is this the right book?

Me: (Sigh) No dear children, the American History textbook is NOT the book needed for Algebra 2.

Pray people. Pray.
For my sanity. For my patience. For me to love them like God wants me to and like the kids need. :)

Decisions

I've just decided:

1. My classroom will have an "owl" theme.  Hooooo wouldn't love that?! ;)

2. Along with canning tomatoes, we will be attempting to make and can our own applesauce.

I'm excited about:

1. Raising Hope and Big Bang Theory beginning their new seasons

2. COLLEGE FOOTBALL. Go Tigers.

3. The 20+ students that I've already taught that I'll have again this year.  Guess what?  All of them are precious gems.  THAT is totally a God wink.

Yesterday I:

1. Realized that my teaching schedule changed without notification from guidance or anyone...and the kids come tomorrow.

2. Cut out some REALLY cute owls for my classroom

3. Swam laps for 30 minutes and only attempted to drown twice...both while trying to freestyle it.  Apparently I'm much better at the breast stroke and the back stroke.

4. Got attacked by BOTH cats.  Apparently they were really hungry.  The aftermath smell of picking apples was too much for them to bear.

5. Figured out that Oliver has kitty dandruff.

Tomorrow I will:
1. Go to school and have a good attitude.  Once we begin, we're that much closer to finishing! :)

186 days till summer!!!! :)

My last day

On my last day before school starts, I will:

1. Cry.  The crying actually started around 11:30 last night. :(
2. Make cookies
3. Swim laps
4. Cry some more and gently remind myself that I'm so thankful that I have a job
5. Pray for my kids coming into my classroom this year
6. Pray for my sanity.
7. Wait for the Terminix guy to come.
8. Deliver dinner to a woman who broke her foot
9. Cry before bed time and make one more giant plea to Grey that he'll let me go steal a kid so I can stay at home and not have to work...
10. Be thankful that I have a job and an income...

Ahhhhhh.....

Hey Summer,
You were good to me.  I got to go lots of fun places - Florida, Sugar Mountain, Lexington, Nag's Head, and Savannah.  I got to spend good quality time with my hubby and get this - we didn't fight this summer!  I got to do fun things like work on my quilt, sew some clothes, watch Friends and Big Bang Theory, and bake bread.  You will surely be missed.  Without a doubt, you can believe that I'm already counting down those 36 weeks that I'll have until we meet again.  I love you and I'm thankful that I have you!
Until June 15th,
B
