Emmie Lyn is 5 months old!
Glory. This month's theme continues to be...SLEEPLESSNESS!
Emmie Lyn,
Please. For the love of all things good. Sleep at night. No more waking at 10, 11, 12, 3, 5, and 7:30. If you can go 4 hours stretches throughout the day without nursing, why must you nurse every 1-2 hours at night? This past week, I've had enough. Thankfully you've only cried at max 10 minutes every time before you quiet down and go back to sleep but baby girl, those 10 minutes are b-r-u-t-a-l. Now, you'll usually nurse at 7:30 to go to sleep, nurse somewhere between 10 and 11, again around 2-3, and again at 5.
I'm pretty sure at your 6 month appt next month, the Dr is going to tell me to let you try and stretch it longer. I remember him telling me with James at his 4 month check up that once I fed him at 11, he should be able to go 6-8 hours without needing to nurse. I love you and your cuddly self, but I DREAM of being able to sleep more then a 3 hour stretch.
You're still very lively and chatty. You're in 6 month clothes, although you're about to outgrow those in length. You are still exclusively breastfed and I'm just giddy about starting solid foods with you in the next couple of weeks. You've recently started eyeing up food and showing more of an interest.
You're completely sitting up like a big girl! No tripod sitting, you didn't do that hardly at all. You still haven't rolled over which drives me crazy. You have absolutely no desire to. I try to roll your legs over and you just lay there, face down on the ground.
You love to smile and giggle - you have the most ticklish ribs! You also love to swing in the swing outside - sometimes you swing alone and sometimes you and your daddy have swing dates. You just eat him up!
Your big brother has become extremely protective of you which I love. This past Thursday, a kid came up to you in the swing and asked your name. James immediately pointed his finger at the kid and yelled, "Hey! That's MINE!" Those boys better watch out later in life.
Speaking of, your brother is currently driving us crazy so it's good we have you - you add a little calm to the storm. Thanks for being your sweet, giggly. snuggly self.
Onto 6 months and solid food and sleeping longer stretches at night! Emmie Lyn, we love you bunches! (Your brother however...) (jokes) (sort of) (not really) (send help)

Time with Family
Is always such a blessing! James had his first chocolate covered marshmallow and LOVED it.
Grey ate air popped popcorn out of a pot. (He does vacation redneck style)
I cheated at cards.
Emmie Lyn got some good Grammy lovin'
This was the only bite taken out of the $8 apple that he INSISTED that he have. Turd.
We rode the trolley too many times courtesy of the toddler. (EL's face says it all)
James climbed a daring and dangerous bridge.
There was some sibling love.
The only tummy time I could get her to do with a good attitude.
We finished the trip off with a 3 hour car ride that resulted in meltdowns by both children the ENTIRE WAY HOME. This particular tantrum? Because he had pooped and didn't want us to smell it.

This week in pictures
Grey finally had enough hair to pull back into his man bun!
We owned my shirt - "fierce hot mess"We caught up with buddies and their wittle babes
One if James' dreams came true (they're doing road construction and decided to park the trucks/machines in the field beside us)
Dinner (peppers, homemade rotisserie chicken, and oven roasted french fries)
James was swaggin' in all his hand-me-down rain gear
I nailed the best all time selfie.
And...
Emmie Lyn worked on sitting up for longer periods!
Have a good weekend y'all!

Cookies and Cups part 2
First up this week? Pull Apart Praline Bread
Rating: 4/5 spatulas
Unfortunately I don't have a picture of this one. Don't get me wrong. This was incredible. Moist, delectable, tons of flavor...the icing. Oh my word. It was out of this world. However. For my stage of life right now, it was a little too time consuming. And it was best right out of the oven. Even 2 hours later it had lost some of it's awesomeness. If you can guarantee that it will be eaten as soon as it comes out of the oven, make it. If not, I'd probably use my time baking something else.
Next up? Fudgy Brownies
Rating: 5/5 spatulas
Delicious, moist, and super easy to make. Grey said I could stop trying any other brownie recipe. This was "the one." She uses melted chocolate instead of any cocoa powder. That, my friends, delivers the fudgy-ness that is out of this world. We made these for small group and I got several compliments!
Ps- EL posing with my baby picture. Girrrlllll. You look just like your momma.
