Happy Halloween

Student: So Mrs. L, are you going to go to some crazy party tonight?
Mrs. L: Um no. Grey and I don't really "get wild and go to crazy parties"
Student: Ok fine - are you going to go to some lame old people party?

Happy Halloween. Here's to being old farts!

Secrets

Don't make friends. :)
Just kidding.

Secret #1: I have an obsession with Herr's Ragin Ranch potato chips - as in, I can't and haven't kept a bag in the house for longer than three days before downing it.

Secret #2: I accidently flicked a student off. I was trying to explain the transitive property and accidently put down my two index fingers and left my middle fingers standing straight up. :) OOPS!

Secret #3: I forgot my lunch today and therefore had popcorn and fruit snacks

Secret #4: My kids told me (in first block) that they think I'm extremely weird and then right after that, they asked if they could just hang out with me all day long. :)

Secret #5: I love Jesus. (Oh wait, that's not a secret!) hahahahaha Tricked ya!

Now, I expect you to share five of your deepest darkest secrets with me. I'm DEMANDING it! Muahahahaha. Did you think secret #6 was that I was pregnant? Um. No. Try again woman. (or man - whoever is reading) I'm still planning on being a nun. I'm just going to invent my own convent when women can have husbands only - no boy toys. Let's be adults about this. I've got people lined up (yes lined up) to run the garden department, the craft department, and the exercising department. I will help run the kitchen area.

Now mind you, in order to be in this wonderful convent, you must wear pink and blue every day. Cats and hamsters allowed only. You have to be tolerant of Clemson tigers and Ragin Ranch Chips. That is all.
Go tigers!!!

Love

Today, I gave one of my classes a test on proofs and I allowed them to use a foldable that we had made since this unit is one of the hardest that we'll do. I went around and checked everyone's foldable to make sure that they didn't have any illegal information on there that I hadn't ok-ed. I got to a certain male student.

Background - this student (student A) is absolutely hilarious. The first day of class, he asked me if I'd go play frisbee golf with him. Every day in class, he'll make a heart shape with his hands and raise it up (like he's raising his hands) until I acknowledge him. The other day, I handed a student a review sheet and told her that I was giving her one (along with the whole class) just because I liked her. Student A gasped and pointed to himself and said, "me too?" I said, "of course Student A!" He proceeded to giggle like a little school boy. Now please believe me when I say that it's all fun - this kid is really and truly joking around.

Today though, I about peed in my pants I was laughing so hard. As I was walking around, I got to student A's desk to check his foldable. I turned it over and scribbled in tiny letters in the corner was "I am madly in love with Mrs. L"

I laughed SO hard and he laughed so hard. At that point,
Me: Student A, you know I'm married right?
Student A: Yes
Me: You know my husband is a wrestling coach and he'll kick your butt?
Student A: Yes
Me: As long as you know!

Students are crazy!:)

Severly Traumatized

Holy cow. Today I had off from school and thus far, it has been a rather relaxing.

I got up, ate breakfast, went grocery shopping and to Kohls, came home, put laundry in, and dusted, and then...almost peed in my pants.

I was in the middle of doing laundry. I took the dark load out of the washer and put it into the dryer and was working on putting the lights into the washing machine when I noticed something dark on the bathroom floor (the bathroom is right beside our laundry room).

Thinking it was a fuzz ball since we have two cats and we're convinced that they have some hair loss disease which causes them to lose hair at a ginormous rate, I picked it up.

I IMMEDIATELY dropped it when I noticed it was not soft and squishy.

Any idea friends? (As I write this, I'm still shaking and antsy)

It was a SPIDER. Gross. A spider about the size of a NICKEL all curled up. Freaked out yet?!

I turned on the light and what did I notice?!

IT WAS BLACK WITH A RED HOUR GLASS ON IT'S BELLY

(Sorry for the bad quality)

Yep. SEVERLY traumatized.
We're having the house sprayed. That's the third one we've found since December. Gross gross gross gross gross.

The line.

See this?

We waited in this line for close to 45 minutes all for this:

Oh yes. Homemade pumpkin and apple cider donuts...all found at this place:

Skytop Orchard! One of my FAVORITE places to go! :) SO much fun!

And who could forget the most important thing that we found on this trip?!

Fresh grown apples with homemade caramel sauce. Ahhh...Heaven in a bowl.

Next year, come soon - I'm already ready to go again :)

You should go.

Hilarious.

Background information - all my students always ask how old I am so I keep telling them that I'm 42. In Feb when my birthday rolls around, I'll turn 43 so it's not like I just keep telling them that I'm 42 every single year. So this semester in particular, I've had to go above and beyond with convincing. They ask me about kids, I tell them that I just got married 10 months ago and my ovaries have dried up. They say that 40 year olds don't have a wii and I show them that the two teachers across the hall (ages 38-40) BOTH have a wii. How old is your husband? Well you look at Grey! Doesn't he look like he's in his forties? It goes on and on.

This is a conversation (JUST HAPPENED) that you're about to read via facebook between one of my teacher friends and myself

Kristina‎: HHS game for homecoming!

Becky: YOU WERE THERE?! Jenkins and I were there!

Kristina: yeah we were there... I saw you... and one kid in front of me was talking about you. She said did you know Mrs. Lancaster is 42???? She looks great for 42.... lol.

Becky: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! :) YAY! you totally made my night!

Kristina:she was totally convinced... she wasn't talking to me but I couldn't help but laugh.

:) Apparently, I'm a GREAT liar!

Did YOU know that I was 42?

Thick

Today, in 4th block, the SAME girl said this:

"Mrs L, you know you kinda have a big butt"

"Mrs. L - you know you kinda thick?"

Wow. Apparently my exercising and eating right is giving me the OPPOSITE reaction of what I was hoping to get.

Oh kids. :)

Finishing up and Fall

To finish out the yuckiness - last night I was reading in my bible just itching for the Lord to speak to me. Yesterday was not the best day at school and to say a little more, last week was probably the worst week yet. Everything that's been going on and that I've struggled with seemed to bear it's ugly head on either Thursday or Friday.

Anywho, I was reading in James and came to a tiny little verse that finished with "you are God's prized possession."

Ah. Thank you Jesus. That's exactly what I needed to hear. I greatly needed a reminder that even though things are iffy right now, I am still God's and not just his, but his beloved prized possesion. He made me, he chose me, he saved me, and he loves me. Amen x100000.

SO! We're starting off this Saturday with lists because I love them! :)

Why I love fall
1. Snuggle time with Grey :)
2. Hot tea
3. Hot chocolate
4. Pumpkin pancakes, bread, waffles, spice muffins...pumpkin everything

6. Fall decorations
7. I love to have windows open
8. Blankets
9. Fleece pants
10. Fire pits

Happy fall y'all! :)
