Epic

This weekend is going to be epic.
1. I'm about to exercise on a Saturday for the first time in about a year.
2. This is Grey's last weekend of wrestling. YAHOOO!!!!!!!
3. I'm going to take a nap.
4. I'm going to paint something.
5. I'm going to grade the pile of make up papers that have been sitting on my desk since cough two cough weeks ago.
6. I'm going to watch my big fat greek wedding.
7. I'm going to cook teriyki chicken and hot and sour soup in the crockpot (I love crockpot meals. They're so amazingly easy.)
8. I found this website. Crockpot365 where the woman used her crockpot every day for an entire year. The recipes from #7 come from this

Yay for the weekend! I hope yours is wonderful!

A letter from a student

Dear Mrs. Lancaster,
Happy 25th birthday!! By the time I give this to you it will be a late happy birthday. I hope you spent your birthday with your loved ones and that they gave you lots of presents! I hope you got to spend the day doing all the things you love! I bet you are proud of so many things at such an early time in your life. Not many people can say they've gone to a great college, are in a loving marriage, and do what they love for a living at 25! You are not lucky, you are blessed. I realized that with God by a person's side, hardwork, and perserverence, there are few limits to what can be accomplished. For example, I am #___ in my class of ____ students! I made it into the _______ and insiders tell me that I've been accepted into ______ for next year. And you, you are married to somebody who loves you and you love back. If you keep God in the center of your marriage, it will be stronger and smoother than most couples. This sounds a little corney (haha, I know that's our kind of humor!!) but when it's time for me to settle down (with a sexy and very lucky man...not just anyone is going to be getting with me ;)) I want to be like you...Not that I'm going to copy your life or anything, but I want to be like you in the sense that I do things right. I want to find a guy that respects me, and when he marrys me, I want to base that relationship in what God wants for us. You've inspired me to be me...haha. I used to feel like I was either shy, sweet, quiet, and "good" or loud spontaneous, crazy and "bad." Thanks to you, I see that it IS possible to be what I was and what I want to be. A strong, tough, funny, spontaneous, outoing, caring person who still follows God's word! Enough about me. I hope that even when you're older (as in 40-50), you still have the youthful and young energy you used to teach us much more than Geometry. Next year I am SO helping you beat _____ in the canned food drive! I miss you Mrs. Lancaster! Take care and never change!

Hello world!

Ok - I'm back and I have ALOT to catch you up on.
First, here are random pictures from the Superbowl over at Krist and Dan's
Oliver dressed up:

Amazing cupcakes - courtesy of Pinterest - Death by Chocolate Oreo cupcakes

The Whiteheads did a little chalk decorating. :)

1-A (Not really under the superbowl heading) I made a purse for Nora

2nd - Valentine's Day
Would you care to know that Hillcrest delivered singing valentine grams on Tuesday? The kids paid for them and with their message came a hand picked song and a homemade cupcake. Three of them were delivered to my classroom and would you care to know how many I received?! TWO! :) I totally beat out all my kids. :) Woo hoo!!!!
I also got a very awkward gift from one of my male students....

3rd - THIS WEEKEND!
Ok - so the story goes that Grey has known that wrestling will take all priority of this weekend since the season started. It's always killed me since my birthday is usually spent alone because of this fact. So this year, Kristi, Dan, mom, dad, and I decided that we were going to get together and have fun without ole Grey.
Since our bank accounts got hacked into on Thursday, my original plans of, "I'll just head straight over from school to Clemson" got turned into, "I'll have to drive to Spartanburg and go to the bank first AND THEN drive all the way to Clemson."
Esh. I got home on Friday and Grey was there waiting to take me to the bank since he had all the information. He casually asked (as I'm peeing mind you - sorry for that bit of info) if I had packed for Kristi and Dan's yet and I answered no because I was waiting until after the bank. He then replied with, "well maybe you should pack for Asheville instead."
Scuse?! Yes. That's right - my husband rocks. He got the weekend off from the tournament THURSDAY night and booked us a stay at a bed and breakfast located in the center of Asheville for Friday night. I was so excited. Like pee in your pants excited. (Good thing I had already peed, right?!)
So here are pics from our trip!

4th - we have seeds! We've planted beans, broccoli, banana peppers, jalapeno peppers, pablano peppers, squash, zucchini, watermelon, carrots, onions, spinach, lettuce (plus a few that I've forgotten). We still have to plant garlic, potatoes, roma tomatoes, and lima beans. Yay!

Absence

Sorry. I've been terrible with blogging in the past week - but I do have excuses!
1. My computer had a virus (I'm currently blogging from another) so Grey's dad is Doctoring it up
2. I've been sick
3. There has been lots of stress going on this week - sickness, covering everyone's classes during my planning period, oh yeah...did I mention that today we found out that our bank account had been hacked?

Joy.
See ya in a week or so....Happy late Valentine's Day!!

Yesterday

1. I had a woman stop me in the parking lot of CVS and ask me to make her a purse.
2. The same woman asked me if I would tutor her kids in math AFTER I had refused #1 because I was too busy
3. Apparently she didn't understand that I'm way busy
4. Grey absolutely will not drink milk from the carton if the expiration date has come and gone...even if it still smells good.
5. I opened up the fridge yesterday morning after Grey had left to see TWO cartons of milk open. I buy a new one every week on Saturday and it just so happens that we hadn't finished this week's yet. The date on the new one was Feb 5. So the question...did Grey just miss the old milk jug and open up the new one or did he purposely leave the expired guy in there and open up the new one?!

A weekend of crafts

So first, this guy officially weighs 16 big ones. Holy cow.

Don't think he's lazy. He naps during the day but come night time, he's tearing up and down the hallway in our house. He and Franky Lynn fight/play all the time. He's quite active. I just think he's huge.

Ok second, here is our table from IKEA!

It actually has storage under the table for the leafs (sp?!) - extra wooden slabs. :)

Together with the "extra wooden slabs", this guy will seat 8 but without, easily 4. We're planning on it being our kitchen table. Hopefully when we move into a more permanent place, we'll get a dining room where we can put the table that Jen gave us.

Third, All about Fabric was open this weekend down in Anderson. I took a trip this morning and came back with some cool purchases. The place was huge - they had big bolts of fabric that you had to pick up and place in your cart and then lug them around the store until you were done shopping. It was fun though. I saw my friend JP and she showed me how it worked. She was sporting a lovely purse that she had just finished making...we'll get to that in a sec. First of all, I bought material to make a table cloth and here is the finished product!

Up close

Ok - back to JP's project. Here it is: Click here!
It was absolutely beautiful. She's way talented with crafts - she made it without a pattern! Looking at it in person, I suddenly felt inspired. I decided to try my hand at it. I however (due to a lack of creativity :) ) decided to look up some free patterns online. The one that I found was the easiest one that I could find but wasn't big enough so I tried to adjust it accordingly. It claims to be a 30 minute wonder...mine was more like 2-3 hours.... :) I also really like the long straps. My sister has claimed that the messenger style bags are the way to go so I decided to give this guy a try.
JP - Grey would like to personally thank you. Not only was he able to play his video games all day since I was obsessed with my sewing machine, but he gets so excited when I get excited about things. :) So thank you!
Here's how it turned out - WITH POCKETS!!!

February

This month, yours truly turns a quarter of a century. Excited? Sure. Freaked out?

Most definitely.

The funniest thing - I always thought/told myself that I'd be married and pregnant by the time I was 25. HAH! Grey and I just talked about how we're so glad that neither one of us is wanting kids at the moment. We're perfectly happy right where we are. We'll take a 3-4-5 year long honeymoon. :)

On to other things.
1. I think (knock on wood), I'm going to have really cool kids this semester. I'm excited.
2. I shaved half my legs this morning so I could wear capri exercise pants after school....except I didn't shave far enough...yeah...ew.
3. I'm still addicted to EBAY. Luckily, I haven't run out of money yet.
4. I'm not going to be able to run the Cooper river this year. Grey and I accidently booked our flight to Boston on the same day without even thinking about it. I came very close to crying when I realized it.
5. Oh yeah. We're going to Boston for spring break! SO EXCITED!
6. I'm going fabric shopping at this really cool fabric store this weekend - thanks JP!
7. I really wish I had girl friends that lived nearby.
8. We got a new dining room table at IKEA this weekend, pics coming soon.

:) Happy Wednesday!
