When I was in kindergarten, my parents decided that my style of hair should be a bowl cut, thus preventing me from repeatedly cutting my own hair when ever I pleased. I was traumatized, especially when I was tattled on for going into the girl's bathroom because I resembled a boy so much. Life was hard.
As many of you may know, I'm quite attached to my hair. I've grown it long for as long as I can remember. The last time I remember having it even to my shoulders was in the 4th grade.
Saturday marks a first for my hair journey. I've had several friends (Kait and Sue) grow their hair out and donate it to Locks for Love. Each time one of them has done it, it's made me desire to do the same thing even more.
As attached as I am to this thing growing on my head, I've realized that it's just that - a thing growing on my head. It has no special powers or effects - in fact, it's dead. Dead dead cells.
So why not bite the bullet, cut it off, and donate it to someone who REALLY needs it? Someone who is fighting the battle between life and death and just wants to look normal for a little while?
I'm sold.
Saturday - 12:30 - I'm cutting my hair off and donating it! I'm SO pumped now and can't wait! Be on the look out for pictures!
