Selfie Sunday

Well...that didn't last long. I already forgot to do our "Selfie Sunday" post so while today's post is a day late, it will be known as "Makeup Mug Shot Monday". :)

Selfie Sunday

Hello world!
I'd like to think that he wanted to lean his head against my cheek but alas, I think his head got tired.
"Mom. Seriously. What are you doing?"
"Hey Mom, Can you change my diaper soon?  I'm pooping."

 Love this one :)

Hanging with Bill the blue bird and Oscar the Owl!

I got the CUTEST card in the mail for my birthday!!!!!!  Thanks MFT!

did you know?

Little man slept for a five hour stretch last night.  Praise. The. Lord.

I keep waking up trying to nurse everything...pillows, blankets, my clothes etc

We're trying to list our house soon...surprise! (With a newborn, yeah, we're just crazy.)

I turned 27 yesterday. It feels weird to be that old.

I took the jogging stroller out for the first time yesterday and almost croaked. Seriously. I almost laid down on the side of the road and waited for Grey to come get me. (I only walked, no actual running occurred)

Did you know that it is possible to burp, spit up, and eat at the same time? (Talking about James here...)

I had Olive garden last night for dinner and James is currently moaning while he nurses. He must really be digging those breadsticks.

That it all. :)

Things I've learned in the past month

Get as much sleep as you can before the baby comes...it won't be the same afterwards.

You become used to cheering on poopy diapers. Kiddo always feels better after one of those.

Breastfeeding makes you ridiculously thirsty.

It's ok to lay the kiddo down in your lap and cry while he screams and refuses to latch on and feed correctly.

Never turn down help.

If you have a boy, you will most definitely get both peed and pooped on.

My husband is completely enthralled with our child.

Shower only when other people can start to smell you. That's usually a good day after I start to smell myself. :)

Your hormones are cray-cray for a while afterwards. I'm not sure mine have returned to normal yet. I cry a lot, I have B.O. constantly, even an hour after I shower, I have acne popping up, sometimes I need affection from Grey and other times I want nothing to do with him...I'm a mess.

Zippered onesies are the way to go. Ain't nobody got the time and patience for snaps at 3:00 am.

I was incredibly hopeful that once we didn't have to set an alarm during the middle of the night to feed him, that he would magically go 6 hours without feeding. I was greatly mistaken. James still wakes up on the dot 2-3 hours after each previous feeding. It takes time Beck, time.

Your body (mainly your tummy) will NEVER be the same afterwards but that's ok. You've birthed a little miracle and that makes it worth it. Stretch marks are the new sexy, huh?

1 month! (and a picture dump!)

This has been QUITE the (hectic) month.  Little J is officially one month old today!

Stats:  As far as we can tell, he's close to 9 1/2 lbs.  His last appointment was two weeks ago and he won't have another one until he's 2 months old.  He's officially out of newborn onesies (due to being too long) but the regular newborn clothes still fit.  He is still wearing newborn diapers.
Personality: He's becoming more and more alert - he's starting to coo a little bit and shriek when he gets REALLY excited.  He is a fan of sticking his tongue out and he is starting to wave and hit things on his play mat.  He's got fairly decent head control although tummy time is usually a disaster (see picture below).
Eating:  We're still breast feeding although I'm not convinced that I love it or that I want to continue it.  At least we've made it through the first month though!  It's purely a "grin and bear it" thing right now to try and save us some money.  Formula is SO expensive.  He's eating anywhere from 2-4 hours after a feeding. Sometimes we have bad nights where he eats every 2 hours (and he eats for 45 min to 1 hour at that feeding) so really he eats and then sleeps for 1 hour and then gets up to eat again.  Other nights, he eats and then I have to wake him up 3 hours after he's finished.  Mommy loves those nights.
Here's your picture dump!
His first bath! (Last night he got another bath and peed and pooed on top of me in the tub...thanks dude)

First snow!

Not a fan of girls right now...
1 month pic!  Thanks Grammy for the stickers!!

Being a newborn is hard work!

Tummy Time Failure. (I crocheted that rug!!)
"Mom, you're crazy. "

So serious!

Talking with Daddy!
Here's to hopefully sleeping more at night!!
