So WE just got back from a play at Grey's school. A student came up to Grey and said, "Hello Mr. Lancaster! Where's your girlfriend or wife thing?"
Grey said, "Uh, I left her at home? Who do you think is standing beside me?"
The kid said, "Oh - well I thought that was your teenage daughter!"
Glad to know that Grey and I look THAT far apart...

Tuesday
Oh Tuesday.
1. My kids have been making kites and so today we went outside and flew them...hilarious.
2. I gave two kids lunch detention for flicking people (intentionally) off and for arguing.
3. I had my last observation for the semester for Adept...yay me!
4. I had two kids start yelling at each other and move closer to each other so I wildly ran in between them and apparently made them completely forget why they were almost fighting because they were laughing so hard
5. Oh yeah...I had a kid drop his pants just to show another kid a scar...ON HIS KNEE. I said, "REALLY?!?! You couldn't go up from the ankle side?!"
Just another normal Tuesday...

Random Updates
1. (I won't spoil anything, don't worry!)
If you want to read about the Vel' d'Hiv roundup, click here
I just got done reading Sarah's Key. Set in France during WWII, it describes occupied France and it's round up of Jews. Sarah is a little Jewish girl whose family gets taken to the Vel' d'Hiv in Paris before being deported to German concentration camps. When the soldiers come to get her family, she hides her little four year old brother in a cabinet trying to save him. The majority of the book is spent with her trying to get back to Paris to save her brother.
What did I think?
It was hard, emotional, stunning, and yet beautifully written. It was definitely something that I think everyone should read. It was one of those books, like "The Help," that sort of changes your perspective on things. It's definitely not a pleasure read so don't expect it to be. It was however, one of the only books where I could not force myself to quit reading. Despite being ridiculously sad in some parts (the author did a good job of not overly dramatizing brutality), I felt like I had to keep reading it, like whether Sarah got to her little brother in the end depended on me finishing it.
You should read it.
2. This little guy,

has a serious issue with not wiping himself when he goes to the potty. Today I discovered an "issue" on his bottom/tail that needed to be fixed so what did Grey and I decide to do? Give the fella a bath.
Woah. woah. woah. Did any warning signs go off in your head cause they certainly didn't in my "everything will work out perfectly" mind.
Think again Becky. It was a total disaster. We couldn't even get him in the tub without him clawing me to pieces AFTER we clipped his claws. We finally resorted to wrapping him in a towel and scrubbing his butt with a wet wash cloth. Ek.
3. I've been working on some crafty projects during the past couple of weekends.

We're going to frame these and hang them on our wall. I still have to do a little more with them but this is the basic outline.

That's all for right now!

By the way....
On Friday,
I had a great conversation with a student about how awesome Heaven was going to be when we get there...no pain, no suffering, no tears.
How blessed am I?

Things I didn't know seven days ago.
1. When coming home late at night, my husband has kindly asked that I hit the next "huge buck" standing on the side of the road (assuming no injuries of course). Isn't he a dear?
2. I still have a huge obsession with Herr's Ragin Ranch Chips. The bag this week lasted all of TWO days.
3. The class that gives me the most trouble discipline wise can and has shaped up in the past week with the revealing that one of their classmates has been diagnosed with colon cancer.
4. One of my students was diagnosed with cancer. I've had a student every day this week come and talk to me about it.
5. We're most likely going to have to skip the "one year anniversary" trip. Ole Grey has wrestling nestled into every weekend between now and Febuary. So long December 18th Getaway.
6. We had one trick-or-treater on Monday which beat our zero total last year. We've improved by 100%. :)
7. Grey was informed that should we have no trick-or-treaters, we will immediately start looking to move back to Clemson. Dang one trick-or-treater. :)
8. I'm reading Sarah's Key and it's the most horrific and beautiful book I've ever read. Book report coming soon.
Here's to a better week next week.
