My world is changing

**Caution: Contains true stories**

Currently, Ms. Nora is napping, glee music is playing, I'm chewing gum, and the sun is shining. Life is good but quite chaotic right now. Earlier in the morning, I realized that come August, things aren't going to look the same as they have for the previous five years. I won't be going back to Clemson, I won't get to see my good friends on a regular basis anymore, I won't be going back to Crosspoint, and I won't be helping with my sweet youth girls (just to name a few). I'm really growing up. I'm starting a legit job that will require all my time and effort during the week. I'll have to pay for my own groceries and car insurance. I'll be known as Miss James to about one hundred 10th and 11th graders. I can't hide in the bushes and shoot people with marshmallow guns anymore. I'm getting married in (holy cow) about 4 1/2 months and I'll then have to live with a (gasp, horror) BOY (excuse me, MAN) for the rest of my life. I'll have to change my name, driver's license, social security card, and bank account. I won't be able to sleep in till 9 every morning and take bubble baths after lunch. I won't be able to wear my HOMEMADE tie-dyed leggings while doing school work. I won't be able to stand inside my apartment peeping through the eye hole while crazy chicks tear each other's hair out and yell profanity and then I won't be able to call the cops on them as they run down the stairs and slam each other up against cars. I won't be able to shoot marshmallows off of our 3rd story apartment into a crowd full of drunks on a Friday night and then dash into the apartment when a drunk starts coming up the stairs towards us.

You may currently be asking yourself this question:
"Is Miss James freaking out?"

My answer to you:
"Um CELLO" (Thanks School of Rock dude)

It's normal to freak out though, right? This is all part of the "Circle of Life" and I honestly just have to get through it all...Right? I've got to "Get down to business to defeat those Huns," move on, and tackle the unknowns(I've been listening to lots of Disney music since I'm with Nora all day)...Right?

Sincerely,
Becky "Freak Out" James

Popsicles! Who wants popsicles?!

This past weekend at home, Mom and I went to the mall. This wasn't just any mall trip, mind you. Nope, we went with a destination in mind: Williams and Sonoma. Being ladies who thoroughly enjoy spending time in the kitchen, this was quite a treat for us. Supposedly they had the gold bake ware (that mom absolutely loves) on sale. This rumor was in fact true, BUT there was something else that caught our attention.

POPSICLES! Williams and Sonoma had popsicle makers, popsicle sticks, and a popsicle cookbook! Being the total cook freak that I am, I bought two books, one for myself (of course) and one for my oldest sister Kristi. I just had to try some of the recipes out!

This past Tuesday, we decided to give it a go, one from the cookbook and one that we made up. The made up one was a healthy version which was comprised of vanilla yogurt, key lime yogurt, and blueberry pomegranate V8 juice. Surprisingly, it was quite tasty...I'd make it again! :)

The second kind was to die for. We made chocolate truffle popsicles from the W&S cookbook. Holy cow. Holy cow. Holy cow. I think Jesus invented those popsicles - they were wonderful. No, wait, wonderful doesn't do it justice. They were silky, chocolatey, decadent, rich little suckers.

Get the idea? They were fabulous. Do yourself a favor and go buy that cookbook. Forget the popsicle maker, put the little treats into dixie cups and when frozen, the dixie cups will peel right off. Don't forget the popsicle sticks!

P.S. Nora just farted. You're welcome.

Practice Stay at Home Aunt

Starting Wednesday, I began my all day play dates with Ms. Nora. Going into this, I really thought it was going to be fun, and don't get me wrong, it has been a blessing to get to hang with this sweet baby girl all day. However, I have drastically changed already. I find myself:
1) constantly singing and talking to her
2) fixing milk
3) smelling butts to see if she's done a number one or two
4) gagging if she's done a number two
5) calling Kristi to tell her that her child has done a number two
6) changing EASILY 6 or 7 diapers between 8 and 4 every day
7) making up my own lyrics to "The Ants Go Marching" such as:
The ants go marching three by three,
The little one stops to pee on a tree
And they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain...
8) crying when Ms. Nora cries
9) eating way more chocolate than a single, sane person should eat in a day
10) staying dirty and unclean until Kristi comes home to relieve me
11) and most importantly, I find myself having an absolute blast

It has most definitely been different then I thought it would be. The first day, I became so overwhelmed that once Kristi got home from work, I locked myself in my room and cried for an hour. I ALMOST, like seriously, called Grey and told him I didn't want children anymore. I'm not quite sure how that would have gone over. However, I've realized since then that all the fussing, crying, projectile puking, and pooping becomes worth it when Nora simply looks at me and smiles, or sleeps on my chest, or squeezes my finger. She's a complete doll and I wouldn't be spending July any other way if I could.
Thanks Kristi and Dan for this wonderful opportunity!

Some sad news

Yesterday, my principal asked me to come by and talk to him about my schedule. It seems that another math position has opened up and he would rather have me teach those classes. Granted, the schedule is something that teachers would fight for. It involves precal and honors geometry classes, so 10th and 11th graders. The spot I was previously taking involved punk 9th grade boys and algebra 1 and 2. It seems like such a better position, but man am I disappointed. I was really looking forward to having all boys in my classes! Oh well.

To keep you updated, it seems as if Dale has escaped the Kleenex for now.

And here for your entertainment are some lovely pictures of what Miss Nora has been up to.
Tummy time:

Smiling:

And...a little poop time:

Thought you were done? Want a close-up?

You're welcome...you can thank me later. :)

Updates

If I thought I was stressed out earlier, boy was I wrong. These past two weeks have been absolutely miserable. Grey and I just talked on the phone and agreed that we were having trouble sleeping etc because we were so stressed. If I can be frank, this point in our lives just plain stinks.

However, God has led us through troubled times before and we will once again have sunny days without rain. :) That, I can guarantee.

So! Looking on the bright side,
*Grey and I both have jobs
*I just signed a lease to rent a place until December
*We're looking at buying a house together...YAY!
*Our countdown till we're married? 160 days :)
*I'm planning on sleeping better one of these days
*New teacher orientation is tomorrow
*Susan Sanders and I are now skype buddies
*I made it past 10:00 at night tonight
*Thai food is my new favorite and I had it last week
*Another tattoo is most definitely in the future
*I had a TB test and I'm negative, although I did cry with that nurse AND the previous nurse that drew my blood
*At youth tonight, Joel, Josh, Susan, AND I all apparently got the same memo on the dress code
*I painted my toe nails bright green
*Nora did not have the squirts on me, only her momma
*Despicable Me is an incredible movie that Kristi and I got to see on our sister date along with eating at PF Changs...you just can't beat that date
*July 12th, my middle sister celebrates her 2nd wedding anniversary and July 19th, my oldest sister celebrates her 7th wedding anniversary (should we have gotten married in between them?!)

Yay for God and sunshine.

Chapel Hill

Since Monday, I've been in Chapel Hill and will continue to be here for the entire month of July. Here are some pictures of what's been going on:

1) Nora has had a lot of play time

2) Dan came home from work and got a little confused...and Nora gave him the stink eye (look closely at her):

3) I saw the most horrifying thing ever:

Do you know what this picture describes? It shows what happens after I attempt to hit a fly with a fly swatter, hit him only half heartedly, and knock him down in the window sill. Then it shows what happens when a spider who has a body the size of a blueberry comes out of the window crack, yes, comes lurking out like the horrible spider in the Lord of the Rings movie, bites its victim, and then proceeds to knock it out (by the way, I can actually see the stinger on the end of it's butt). At this point, the spider DRAGGED the fly all the way across the window sill to the other side and proceeded to wrap him up in a web of destruction (brother Dan's exact words). Now, please realize that this wasn't all that happened. The fly was not quite dead yet, nope, it KEPT BUZZING IN DISTRESS. I wanted to do something, anything, but couldn't because I absolutely hate hate, I repeat, HATE spiders. So the picture above is of the poor fly that I should have just murdered with the fly swatter to begin with instead of knocking it into a spider's camp of torture. Can you see the spider eating the fly? It's the huge brown thing in the corner. Gross...double gross. I hope he enjoyed his lunch because that is the LAST bug he's getting from me.

Note to Dale, the evil spider: We WILL murder you. Look out for a big wad of kleenex coming your way mister. Look. Out.
