As I'm sitting here in class (a 5:45-8:30 poo poo class in Greenville), it's obvious that my brain is elsewhere rather than on my stimulating action research that is of math, calculators, and high school. My tummy is gurgling from my Feb.27th yogurt and granola that I ate earlier for dinner and my fingers are swelling from the heat outside. It’s VERY exciting being me right now.
Currently, there are many things in my life that could be tremendously stressful if I allow them to be. I’ve got some friendships that are strained for one reason or another, there are tremendous budget cuts going on in the upstate so to say the least, the jobs opportunities are lacking, I’m in the process of finding a house/apartment to rent for the next year, and I’m beginning to get into the thick of wedding planning.
It’s so easy to get caught up in throwing myself a pity party, but I am bound and determined to not let myself get bogged down with stress. There is a song by Chris Tomlin that has been on my mind. A few of his lyrics are:
“Our God is greater, Our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other…There is none like YOU!”
Amen to that. God is greater than my stresses and my triumphs, He’s greater than everything! For that reason, I’m deciding to focus on the positives and trust my God that He is sovereign and that He’s going to take care of me!
Just a few positives:
*My tummy didn't get sick from my yogurt that was a month and almost two weeks past due
*I have the most wonderful family (bro-in-laws included)
*I'm going to be an aunt in a little less than two months!
*I can say that by June, I will have finished my master's degree in LESS than a year
There are about a million others, but to save you the time, I won't write about them all right here. Maybe I'll start a "What I'm thankful for today" post...Hmmmmm

Who knew?!
Beth Moore, one of my heroines, recently did a post about "10 things you may not know about me" and it definitely peaked my interest. Here are her directions:
"What are 10 things - right off the top of your head - that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don't go for deep. Go for quirky. Don't try to put them in any kind of order and don't make them long. Just start typing."
So here goes:
1)I played the French Horn through middle and high school and was pretty competitive at it
2)My dad was a missionary in Japan for three years
3)My biggest pet peeve - people who whine and shirt tags sticking out
4)I could eat cheerios and chocolate for every meal
5)I LOVE to fish
6)I sucked my thumb until I was in the third grade and I can brag about the fact that I never had braces or any dental work
7)The only reason I went to Clemson? Because my parents didn't want me to go there
8)I WILL beat you in a burping contest unless you are Kristi James Whitehead...and then I just fail. Utterly fail.
9)I have an obsession with high heels
10)I was a rebel two years ago and got a tattoo :)
Happy Easter Weekend!! Yay Jesus!
Love, B

The Baby Shower Weekend...
This weekend consisted of more baby showers (sorry Kristi) than I ever want to see again. There were only two, and they were wonderful and beautiful, but woah...too much baby. I think the total count consisted of:
*pack and play, stroller, carseat, Exersaucer
*Diaper Genie + 4 packs of refills (enough for 1000 diapers...gross)
*more outfits than the child can wear before she outgrows them
*30 receiving blankets
*books and stuffed animals
*over 400 diapers
The list goes on and on. Here's an idea of all the LITTLE things that they got. This doesn't include any of the big items.

My favorite pictures of the shower? Right below :)

For someone preparing for a wedding, I am not ready to deal with all of these things! YIKES!
We also dyed Easter Eggs...

I think by the end, even poor Lillie was worn out!

It was a pretty terrific weekend!
Happy Palm Sunday!

I saw more BBQ than I ever have before!
This past weekend was the ending of spring break and boy was it absolutely wonderful! It started by Grey taking me on one of the sweetest and most thoughtful dates ever! I've always said that my favorite meal would consist of a Chickfila sandwich, Arby's curly fries, and a Wendy's frosty...all of the best things from my favorite fast food places! Well my sweet hubby-to-be ( :D ) decided that our date was going to consist of this amazingly greasy meal. We picked everything up and went down to the dike by Clemson. We managed to climb down and sit on a huge rock that was really close to the water's edge and overlooked the rest of the lake. Not only was it just wonderful sitting there with my man, but the sun was setting as well...perfect! :) It was one of my favorite dates ever.
After that, we went into Walhalla to see one of my 7th graders in Raggedy Anne and Andy. I'm proud to say that it was one of best plays I've ever seen, aside from Wicked, and my sweet Sarah Pirkle rapped!...it made my day. She played an AMAZING part and her sisters did a great job as well. It was so much fun!
After that, we went to the farm in NC to help his dad with a church fundraiser. His father was in charge of cooking all the BBQ for about 300 people at their church. Never have I:
1) Seen so much BBQ
2) Seen how BBQ was made
3) Seen that much BBQ sauce
4) Heard Grey state so much that he hates yellow sauce (which happens to be what I enjoy)
Yep...we've already argued as to what kind of sauce our children will eat when we fix BBQ. I'll have to keep doing my pushups and THEN we'll see what happens.... ;) Grey also bought a mountain board and so the next couple of pictures are from not only the BBQ cookin, but of Grace and him trying out the board. It was pretty entertaining to watch them. I got a good couple of laughs out of it.
Enjoy!

Doing the pulling of the "pulled" pork
Completely by accident
She ROCKED it.
Look at that balance!

Guess what?!
I'm engaged!!!! :)
My sweetheart of a boyfriend decided to pop the question on Friday night at the farm in NC. The story goes that I had suspected that this weekend was going to be "THE WEEKEND." I was terrified to go, had not slept the night before because I was dreaming of him proposing, and all my roommates and some friends knew what could possibly go down this weekend so of course, they were playing with my heart. :)
When we got to the farm, We walked into the house and his nanny looked at us and said, "Congrats on your plans to get married!" All the color drained from Grey's face and I just looked at her and told her that we were still dating. She then replied, "But I heard that it was official." Nope Nanny...still dating. TO WHICH she started talking about how it was a good thing that we were only dating. There were plenty of fish in the sea and we needed to take time to make sure that we knew each other well enough because that's how divorces happen. (Through all of this, I was trying to hold back my vomit mind you...) Divorces begin when people get married but then they realize that they're attracted to someone else and well, there ya go.
SO! Grey and I eventually made it downstairs to the big room where we just looked at each other and split like tweezers. He went outside to work on the jeep and I stayed to work on a take home exam, sob like a mad woman, and call my momma freaking out. Yep. No joke, the rest of the afternoon (5-8ish), I was horribly shaky, didn't want to eat anything, and was trying to postpone the event that I knew was coming because I was so nervous. At one point before dinner, Grey said, ok! I'm ready to give you your surprise! He walked over, put one hand in his pocket, and said, "It wasn't ready until now..." I looked at him and said, let's wait and eat first! He promtly put the other hand in his pocket and walked off.
Poor guy. Poor poor guy.
After dinner, we were trying to figure out what to do and were basically standing in the middle of the floor. Yep, just standing there like awkward asparagus stalks looking at each other. Then...
Grey: You ready for your surprise now?
Me: I guess so (blood pressure rising, palms sweating)
Grey: Close your eyes
Me: (oh geez)
Grey: It's in the backroom, so hold on
Me: (Well shoot, it's not a ring)
Grey: OK! You can open your eyes!
Me: OPEN!
Grey: Ok, well I'm pretty sure you know this is coming, but in case you didn't... (gets down on one knee), Becky, will you marry me?
Me: Sure?
:) Awkward right? Just like the two of us...perfectly awkward and beautiful!
I'm gonna be Grey Lancaster's WIFE!!!!!! AH!!!!!
Sorry these pictures are blurry, I'll try and get clearer ones up later!

Global Warming Global Smarming
This is the third time this year that we've gotten snow! I feel like that is a record for little ole South Carolina. The video below is of the last snow fall, this past Tuesday (3/2/10). With people in SC winning the title of being the most freaked out when snow comes, of course, all of my afternoon and evening classes got canceled early that morning (and the night before) just at the mention of the possibility of snow. The funny thing is about 10 minutes after I shot the video (an hour before any of my would-be classes started), it all started melting. :)

A lot has happened!
So a lot has indeed happened in the past couple of weeks. For starters, my good friend Tracey came up to visit for a glorified girls birthday weekend. Tracey, Susan, Savannah, and I all went out to dinner to celebrate each others birthdays which all happened to be between Feb 16-28. Our favorite part? The waitress gave us ALL free desserts at dinner :) However,we got a little silly before...

The weekend of Valentine's Day, I finally got my Christmas present from Grey...a ticket to go see Wicked! It was utterly fabulous. The woman who was supposed to play the part of Elphaba for some reason didn't perform so they had the backup do it and boy oh boy...she was absolutely amazing.
This past weekend, I got the opportunity to hang out with my 7th grade girls. Jessie, Susan, and I all had the girls over at my apartment for a slumber party on Friday night. Because it had been my birthday that previous weekend, the girls were super sweet and brought me goodies to celebrate! The night consisted of bowling, hanging out at my apartment, telling stories of nightmares, and approximately getting two hours of sleep before they had to be up and at the church the next morning. Needless to say, we were all pretty wiped out. The funny thing is that we got the most sleep of any of the other middle or high school groups. Can you believe that? Good gracious!
